ASAC Supporting the Digital Systems Program with Systems Engineering and Technical Management Expertise

Australia System Assurance Company (ASAC) is proud to have supported Transport for NSW’s Digital Systems Program (DSP), providing specialist systems engineering, project management, and technical management services across both Tranche 1 and Tranche 2.

The Digital Systems Program represents a major step forward in the transformation of Sydney’s rail network, replacing legacy signalling and train control systems with modern, intelligent, and highly automated digital technology. As part of this ambitious transformation, ASAC has been engaged to provide expertise and leadership across key areas of the program’s delivery.

Our Role in Tranche 1 and Tranche 2

ASAC’s experienced team worked alongside TfNSW, systems integrators, and delivery partners to support the implementation of next-generation rail systems. Our responsibilities included:

  • Systems Engineering Leadership
    Leading and supporting end-to-end systems engineering processes—from stakeholder requirements capture to interface definition, integration planning, and lifecycle traceability.

  • Project Management Support
    Providing strategic oversight and coordination across multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholder interfaces, and ensuring alignment with schedule, cost, and quality targets.

  • Technical Management Services
    Supporting the technical assurance of complex systems—including ETCS Level 2, Automatic Train Protection (ATP), and Traffic Management Systems—ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

  • Requirements Engineering & Interface Management
    Leveraging advanced ELM tools such as IBM DOORS and DOORS Next to manage requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and validation activities with a focus on traceability and risk mitigation.

  • Integration & Readiness Support
    Supporting integration readiness planning, interface workshops, and technical reviews to prepare for system commissioning and deployment.
