Cross River Rail – Transforming Brisbane’s Rail Network

Cross River Rail (CRR) is a landmark infrastructure project delivering a 10.2-kilometre rail line through the heart of Brisbane—5.4 kilometres of which will run underground.

The project is designed to ease congestion, enhance network reliability, and significantly improve access to Brisbane’s CBD. This will be achieved through the construction of four brand-new underground stations at key inner-city locations, along with a major upgrade to Exhibition Station.

By unlocking core capacity within the inner-city network, CRR enables more frequent services to operate on key lines—including the Caboolture Line to the north, and the Gold Coast and Cleveland Lines to the south.

This investment is not just a boost to transport—it’s a major enabler of urban growth, vastly improving accessibility for communities and supporting the liveability and economic development of South East Queensland.
